Brett Baty‘s double in the fourth highlighted a nice night for Mets prospects on Friday as the Salt River Rafters came away with a 2-1 win over the Peoria Javelinas. Baty’s double led him too score what was ultimately the winning run later in the inning.

Carlos Cortes and Hayden Senger also found themselves on-base in the victory as Cortes walked in the fourth and Senger singled in the seventh.

  • Brett Baty, DH: 1-for-4, R, SO
  • Carlos Cortes, LF: 0-for-3, BB, SO
  • Hayden Senger, C: 1-for-3

Two Mets pitchers also saw action on the mound today, including Connor Grey getting the start. The righty earned the win pitching three innings and striking out two batter while allowing just two hits. Both of Grey’s allowed hits came from Pirates prospect Ji-hwan Bae who hit a lead-off line drive double to get things started for the Javelinas.

However, Grey was able to get out of the early jam with a fly out, strikeout and a groundout.

Garrison Bryant was the second New York prospect to take the mound on Friday night as he came in relief in the fifth. The right-hander pitched two innings for the River Rafters, striking out two batters and issuing a walk.

But Pittsburgh prospect Nick Gonzales helped play spoiler in Bryant’s appearance as he hit an RBI double in the sixth, giving Peoria its lone run of the game. However, much like Grey, Bryant was able to prevent Gonzales from scoring and tying the ballgame as he two pop outs and a three-pitch strikeout ended the inning.

The River Rafters are set for another late-night game with the Solar Sox on Saturday at 9:35 EST.
