David Roseboom Likely Out for the Year

Left-handed reliever David Roseboom is unlikely to pitch again this year according to Las Vegas 51s manager, Pedro Lopez. Roseboom suffered a foot injury in May and will need 16 weeks to recover from it.

Roseboom was struggling in Las Vegas this season, pitching to a 8.31 ERA in 17.1 innings and had a 1.79 WHIP in that time too. This is coming a year after he dominated the Eastern League for Binghamton. He had a 1.87 ERA in 57.2 innings and had a 0.90 WHIP in that time. He was considered to be a candidate for the Mets bullpen this year before the team re-signed Jerry Blevins.

The injury is a big blow for an already weak Las Vegas bullpen. The bullpen has been heavily reliant on Kevin McGowan, Logan Taylor, and Chasen Bradford. With this injury, it would make sense that Alberto Baldonado, who was brilliant in Binghamton this year, would pitch in more high leverage roles.

Roseboom was drafted in 2014 so he is not eligible for another year in the Rule 5 draft. This gives him and the Mets the luxury of letting Roseboom recover and decide on his future with the team next year.
