Jacob deGrom for a third straight start, threw well enough for the victory, but this time he was done-in when the Pirates scored five runs in the last two innings to beat the Mets 5-3.

Degrom tossed 6.2 innings, giving up five hits, did not allow a run, while walking five and striking out four. But with the Mets leading 2-0, the bullpen blew another stellar start by deGrom, when they gave up two runs in the eighth and three runs in the ninth.

The pitching prospect also did his part in trying to help lead the Mets to victory when he went 2 for 2, with a run scored and two singles and is now hitting .800 (4 for 5), and a run scored.

The summer is long and there are enough starts left for deGrom to finally earn his first major league victory.
