Baseball America has started doing their end of the season Top 20 prospects for each league in the Minors which includes a chat where fans can ask about the lists.

Mets 2015 2nd round pick Desmond Lindsay was listed as the 19th best prospect in the Gulf Coast League after hitting .304/.400/.464 in 21 games in pro debut. He was then promoted to the Brooklyn Cyclones where he struggled hitting just .200/.308/.267. Lindsay was the only 2nd round pick to make the list.

Here is what BA had to say about Lindsay:

  • Looks like a man among boys, with a strong, physically mature build for his age.
  • His quick hands generate plus bat speed, with an inside-out swing that he uses to stay through the middle of the field and work the opposite way.
  • Third baseman through most of high school, Lindsay is now a center fielder who has plus speed. He still is learning to play the outfield, so his routes and positioning need improvement.

During the BA chat regarding the Top 20 Ben Badler was asked if any other Mets prospects received consideration and he went on to say this about catching prospect Ali Sanchez:

  • It pained me to leave Ali Sanchez off the list, because the reviews of him from scouts were good and his stock has only continued to increase from the time he was a top 30 prospect for July 2 in 2013 and a top 20 DSL/VSL prospect in 2014.
  • The reports on his defense were glowing. Outstanding catch-and-throw skills for his age, very advanced in terms of blocking and receiving with soft hands and good footwork.
  • That defense alone behind the plate is going to allow him to stick around for a long time to be able to put things together with the bat, and the bat is already solid.
  • It’s an inside-out swing without much power yet, but he has the hand-eye coordination to put the ball in play and has a sense for the strike zone. Good chance to develop into an everyday catcher.

Sanchez, 18, made his stateside debut this year hitting .272/.330/.306 in 173 at bats (11 for Kingsport). He also threw out 46% (26 of 56) of would-be basestealers this year after throwing out 51% last season for the Dominican Summer League Mets.
