One of the Mets’ top pitching prospects would take the mound on Thursday, with two affiliates getting rained out on an uneven day for the farm system.
Triple-A
Syracuse Mets (6-5) 5, Worcester Red Sox (4-7) 4
- CF Ben Gamel 2-for-4, R, HR (3), 2 RBI (6), 0 BB, 2 K (1.190 OPS)
- 3B Rylan Bannon 2-for-4, R, 2 RBI (2), 0 BB, K (.788 OPS)
- 1B Mark Vientos 1-for-4, 2 K (.966 OPS)
- SS Luisangel Acuña 1-for 4, RBI (2) 2 SB (3,4), K (.449 OPS)
The Syracuse offense had nine hits on the day, four of which belonged to Rylan Bannon and Ben Gamel.
Luisangel Acuña stole two bases on the day and went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Despite his early season struggles, he is still using his speed when he gets on base.
- RHP Dominic Hamel (8.22) 5 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 10 K (52 of 81 pitches for strikes)
- RHP Eric Orze (7.11) 1 1/3 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K (15 of 30 pitches for strikes)
- LHP Kolton Ingram (9.00) 1 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HR allowed (12 of 28 pitches for strikes)
- LHP Danny Young (3.00) 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 K (4 of 8 pitches for strikes)
Dominic Hamel had a significantly better start compared to his first outing of the season, exhibiting much better control and striking out 10 batters while getting 14 swinging strikes. While Hamel hasn’t been hit hard, it seems the automatic ball/strike system may take some getting used to, as it has seemed to plague Mike Vasil as well. The bullpen came out, and while it wasn’t flawless, it got the job done to ensure a Syracuse win.

The Tourists/Cyclones game was also postponed due to rain and will also be made up as a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13th at 1:00 P.M.
Low-A
St. Lucie Mets (2-3) 4, Jupiter Hammerheads (2-3) 11
- 1B Christopher Suero: 1-for-2, 2B R, SB (1), K (.745 OPS)
- C Ronald Hernandez 0-for-4, RBI (2), BB, K (.788 OPS)
- CF Nick Morabito 1-for-4, 2B, R, BB, SB (3), 2 K (.873 OPS)
- 3B Jesus Baez 1-for-4, 2B, R, BB (.696 OPS)
- SS Marco Vargas 1-for-4, R, RBI (1) (.550 OPS)
Offensively, St. Lucie was quiet, scoring six runs on five hits. No St. Lucie Met had more than one hit. Marco Vargas made his first appearance for the St. Lucie Mets and started at shortstop.
- RHP Max Kranick (21.60) 1 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 2 K (21 of 31 pitches for strikes)
- RHP Ernesto Mercedes (7.20) 3 IP, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K (31 of 57 pitches for strikes)
- RHP Wilson Lopez (0.00) 2/3 IP, 4 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 1 K (9 of 29 pitches for strikes)
- RHP Jack Wenninger (3.86) 3 1/3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K, (37 of 62 pitches for strikes)
Max Kranick went out on a rehab start and really struggled, putting St. Lucie in a deep hole they would never escape. Wilson Lopez has possibly one of the hardest luck lines you’ll see, with four unearned runs on 0 hits while walking three and striking out one. Jack Wenninger came on in mop-up duty and struck out eight in 3 1/3 IP.
