The Mets officially added left-hander Josh Edgin to the roster and will be the Mets second lefty in the bullpen.

Edgin, who will wear #66, pitched from 2012-2013 for the Mets and in 68 combined games he was 2-3, with a 4.14 ERA, one save, and 50 strike outs in 54.1 innings.

The Mets have released righthanded reliever Kyle Farnsworth on Wednesday, who up until three days ago was given a vote of confidence by Terry Collins as the team’s closer.

Farnsworth signed a 45-day consent waiver and the Mets had until Saturday to release him and only have to pay him for 45 days, saving them $750,000.

He could choose an assignment to Vegas, but that’s highly unlikely.

When asked if he was bitter, Farnsworth responded, “Yes, really bitter. Hopefully I find a team to play against this team.”

Looks like Josh Edgin will be added to the active roster.

Adam Rubin reports that left-handed relief pitcher, Josh Edgin has been dispatched to New York, although it is unclear if he will be activated, a source told ESPNNewYork.com.

Edgin was 3-0 with a 4.97 ERA in 17 appearances for  Las Vegas and allowed 16 hits and 11 walks while striking out 12 in 12.2 innings.

Edgin is on the temporary inactive list with Vegas and has been in Charlotte for the birth of a child.
