The Mets High-A affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones have thrown their first-ever 9-inning no-hitter in the team’s existence with no other than Francisco Alvarez behind the dish. It happened before but it was in a 7-inning doubleheader in 2009.

For Brooklyn, it took three pitchers to complete the no-hitter with a combined six-strikeout performance from Dakota Hawkins (5 innings), Joey Lancellotti (1 inning), and Joshua Cornielly (3 innings). Francisco Alvarez has two rehab starts behind the plate with incredible pitching performances.

The other came on Sunday with Double-A Binghamton and Mets’ starter Brandon Sproat on the mound. In his outing, Sproat allowed one hit and struck out 10 in seven innings.

When Alvarez started his rehab assignment his goal was to catch 9 innings and see where he was at. In his first game catching 9 innings he was a part of history in Brooklyn. At the dish, Alvarez went 1-for-3 with a walk.
