Baseball America recently did their annual Minor League Baseball Classification All-Stars with two Mets being honored for their performance in 2019.

Right-handed pitcher Corey Oswalt was chosen for the Triple-A team that covers both the International League and Pacific Coast League.

Oswalt, 26, was fantastic for the Syracuse Mess this season with a 2.91 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 86 2/3 innings in a league that saw a huge jump in runs scored (4.16 in 2018 to 5.16 this season).

Oswalt’s 5.27 K/BB ranked first in the league among pitchers with at least 80 innings pitched and his 0.93 HR/9 ranked ninth.

The other Mets minor leaguer chosen was 17-year-old Francisco Alvarez. He was named the catcher of the Rookie League team that included players from the Appalachian League, GCL, Pioneer League, and AZL.

Alvarez, in his first pro season, slashed .312/.407/.510 with 10 doubles, seven home runs, and 26 RBI in 42 games combined between the GCL Mets and Kingsport Mets. He was given a new Mets record IFA bonus of $2.7 million last year.
