Scorpions manager, Cesar Martin, continues to be impressed by Gimenez. Enough for him to use Gimenez in the lead-off spot for the first time this season. He responded by reaching base three times in his five plate appearances including a triple in the seventh inning. Unfortunately, the Scorpions as a team struggled to score runs as they were 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left a total of ten runners on base in the game. While Kevin Smith was the largest culprit for this (six runners left on base), Luis Carpio was right behind him leaving five runners on base himself.

Ali Sanchez did not start in this game but was forced into the game as a pinch runner for Giants prospect Joey Bart. Bart was hit by a pitch for the second time in the game in the bottom of the sixth inning and had to be removed. Sanchez would draw a walk in his only plate appearance of the day.
