Binghamton SS Andres Gimenez left last night’s 12-9 win against New Hampshire in the top of the sixth when Andrew Ely pinch hit for him.

Up until that point in the game, Gimenez was 1-for-3 with a run scored, triple, and a stolen base.

So far, it has not been announced if the decision to pinch hit Ely for Gimenez was injury related, a promotion, or Rojas preferring Ely up in that spot. Given Gimenez being the organization’s best prospect and Jack Reinheimer being recently optioned to Las Vegas, the later two options seem unlikely.

After pinch hitting for Gimenez, Ely would stay in the game and play shortstop. In the top of the ninth, Ely would hit a go-ahead three run homer. It was Ely’s first homer with the Rumble Ponies.

Check back with MMN for updates on Gimenez’s departure from this game.
