After just eight starts with Low-A St. Lucie, the New York Mets have promoted right-handed pitching prospect, J.T. Ginn to the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones.

Ginn, the Mets No. 6 prospect according to MLB.com, posted a 2.56 ERA with the St. Lucie Mets through eight starts. He was 2-1 over those eight starts and struck out 35 over the course of 28.2 innings pitched. He had a 0.93 WHIP.

Ginn’s velocity has averaged around the low 90’s, hitting 94 to 95 mph coming off of Tommy John Surgery. The Mets expect him to be back to normal and hitting higher velocities by the time Spring Training roles back around in March.

The Mets have also made other roster moves this afternoon. As reported by Jacob Resnick of SNY, left-handed pitcher Josh Walker was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse and right-handed pitcher Jose Butto will fill Walker’s position with Double-A Binghamton.

Walker, who has been impressive this season, is 5-1 with Double-A Brooklyn with a 2.64 ERA. He struck out 42 over the course of 44.1 innings pitched, with a 0.88 WHIP.

Butto, the Mets No. 15 top prospect is 1-4 with a 4.32 ERA this season with High-A Brooklyn. He has a 4.32 ERA and has struck out 60 over the course of 58.1 innings pitched, with a 1.13 WHIP.
