Lefty reliever Jack Leathersich will open the season in Double-A even after posting a 1.53 ERA in 29 1/3 innings in 2013 with Binghamton and then finished the season with Las Vegas (AAA), according to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY.
The reason for the move is because there are just too many pitchers with the 51’s.

It makes sense because the mets have so many left handed closers who strike out
a lot of batter’s at AAA and the besides the mets are set at the closers position right
now and for years to come!!
Plus if he does well enough in Double A and the Mets want to bring him up, they can always just promote him. I think between AA and AAA, guys can be utilized on the big club throughout the season.
Think that was sarcasm… But any way, I think he needs to work on his control and Vegas was killing him.. If he finds his control, he should be up shortly after.
