The Mets announced that Jacob deGrom will wear #48 and when he makes his major league debut, it will be out of the bullpen.

DeGrom has made 58 career minor league starts, and has not pitched in relief since his college days at Stetson University.

It will be exciting to see him pitch, maybe even Tuesday night against the Yankees.

Side Note:

Other notable Mets pitchers to wear #48 were, Randy Myers, Glendon Rusch, Aaron Heilman, and Frank Francisco.

Adam Rubin of ESPN NY reports that Jacob deGrom has received a promotion to the majors. DeGrom will replace Gonzalez Germen in the bullpen, who the Mets placed on the disabled list with a virus after Monday’s 9-7 win against the Yankees.

DeGrom, 25, was 4-0 with 2.58 ERA in seven starts with Vegas and now is another key component of the Mets youth movement. The future is finally becoming a reality and one more piece to the puzzle is still on the horizon.
