Jacob deGrom is in line to lose his first game of the season.  After winning his last four starts and lowering his ERA to 1.89, he struggled in Wednesday nights game against the 13-20 Salt Lake Bees, and left trailing 5-2.

DeGrom, who has out-pitched Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero so far this season, came into Wednesday’s game looking to add to his win total and continue to move towards his big league debut. But he struggled early in the game giving up a two-run home run in the first inning to the Bees hot hitting third baseman Luis Jimenez, two more runs in the second (one unearned) and one in the fourth to finish. DeGrom did battle and get out of a bases loaded jam to end the fifth inning and closed the door on his shaky performance.

The 6’4″ right hander threw 89 pitches, 62 for strikes, with final line of, 5 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, and his ERA ballooned to 2.58 ERA.

He will look to rebound in his next start and get back on track.
