In advance of the Tuesday night game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Mets placed Carlos Carrasco on the IL with right elbow inflammation. In place of Carrasco on the roster, the Mets called up right-handed reliever Jeff Brigham from Triple-A Syracuse.

Brigham would appear in relief of Deni Reyes in the seventh inning of the game against the Dodgers. He would strike out the only two batters he faced.

The Mets acquired Brigham along with Elieser Hernández from the Miami Marlins this past offseason. In exchange, the Mets sent prospects Franklin Sanchez and Jake Mangum.  Brigham, 31, has made 54 Major League appearances over five seasons. He has a career 94 ERA+ and a 4.75 FIP.

Hernandez, 27, began the season on the IL with a right shoulder strain. He has not yet begun a rehab assignment.

In other news, right-handed reliever Dennis Santana cleared waivers, and the Mets outrighted him to Triple-A Syracuse. Santana, 27, was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Twins a few weeks before the start of the 2023 season.

Santana appeared in seven games for the Mets so far this season logging 7 2/3 innings. After a strong start to the season, he allowed runs in three out of his last four appearances. Overall, he is 1-0 with a 7.04 ERA, 1.565 WHIP, 5.9 BB/9, and an 11.7 K/9.

The Mets also promoted right-handed reliever Dylan Hall from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse. Hall, 25, was signed by the Mets as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Central Oklahoma. He previously pitched for Virgina Polytechnic Institute and State University in his freshman and sophomore seasons.

Hall pitched six scoreless innings over three appearances before the promotion. Over that time, he allowed six hits and no walks while striking out six batters.

Also, we as a site would be remiss again if we did not take the time to thank our late founder Joe DeCaro. We exist because he had a real passion for the Mets, and he wanted to see more news and profiles on the Mets minor leagues. Articles like this exist because of him, and we cannot begin to thank him for all he has done for the Mets community. May he rest in peace.
