Jenrry Mejia Throws Scoreless Inning, Xorge Carrillo With Two Hits

Jenrry Mejia made his fourth relief appearance of the Dominican Winter League playoffs last night for the Tigres del Licey pitching a scoreless six inning. He allowed one hit and a walk with all three outs coming via ground balls. He has pitched three innings in the postseason allowing two runs on four hits, four walks, and has struck out two.

The Tigres lost the game 10-7 in 13 innings to the Toros del Este for their third straight defeat. They are now 12-4 in the 18-game round robin and have already clinched a spot in the championship round. Dario Alvarez pitched for the Toros allowing a walk, hit and striking out a batter in his 0.2 of an inning. He now has 3.1 scoreless innings in the playoffs with seven strikeouts.

Xorge Carrillo broke out of his mini slump with a 2 for 4 night for the Aguilas de Mexicali who got the victory and took a 3-2 series lead in the best-of-7 semifinals. Carrillo is hitting .379 in nine playoff games with five doubles while catching every game.

The Criollos de Caguas won a pitchers duel last night over the Indios de Mayaguez 1-0 in the Puerto Rican Winter League playoffs. Johnny Monell went 1 for 4 and is hitting .367 during the postseason. T.J. Rivera had a rare off night going 0-3 with the bat, dropping his playoff average to .324 in nine games.
