Arizona Fall League (AFL)

Scottsdale Scorpions (12-11) 4, Mesa Solar Sox (10-13) 0 Box Score

It wasn’t Humphreys most efficient outing, but, he did continue his strong AFL season with another two innings of scoreless work in the sixth and seventh innings of this game. Sitting between 92-94mph with his fastball, Humphreys threw only 18 of his 36 pitches for strikes (50%) but generated five swinging strikes (13.9% SwStr) leading to three swinging strikeouts.

Offensively, Gimenez had himself a rare “off” night as he grounded out twice and struck out twice. Meanwhile, after a solid start to the AFL season as a rotational starter, Mazeika has been struggling mightily as an everyday player since Joey Bart sustained a fractured thumb. Since October 9th, Mazeika is 1 for his last 16 with four strikeouts.

Dominican Winter League (LIDOM)

Leones del Escogido (6-0) 3, Tigres del Licey (2-4) 1 Box Score

The LIDOM is a hyper competitive league with very little tolerance for under-performing players in each team’s pursuit for a championship and a spot in the Caribbean World Series. Rymer Liriano seems to have already lost his hold on a starting outfield job and Alcantara doesn’t seem to be too far behind with another 0-for performance.

Toros del Este (1-5) 6, Estrellas de Oriente (1-5) 3 Box Score

  • RHP Tim Peterson: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K, 0 BB | 0-0, 9.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP

After spending the first week of the season on the sidelines, Peterson made his LIDOM season debut last night in the ninth inning with a 6-2 lead. After getting the first two batters out with relative ease, he allowed a two out triple to Lewin Diaz who then scored on a playable ground ball to second base that Alen Hanson got a poor read on to cut the lead to 6-3. Peterson would bounce back though getting Socrates Brito to chase a 2-2 fastball up in the zone for the strikeout.
