Mets’ prospect Jose Peroza was named the Eastern League player of the week for week six (May 8-14) of the 2023 minor league season.
This past week the Mets’ Double-A affiliate Binghamton Rumble Ponies took on the Colorado Rockies’ Double-A affiliate Hartford Yard Goats. In those seven games against Hartford, Peroza hit .407/.419/.926, with a 1.345 OPS. He was 11-for-27 with eight extra-base hits, three home runs, and 12 RBIs. Peroza lit up during this series, having four multi-hit games on his way to being named player of the week.
Last Tuesday, Peroza reached base five times, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored, three home runs in that game, and five RBIs.
Peroza, who has played shortstop, second base, and third base this year, was promoted from St. Lucie on April 17. Overall this season for Binghamton, he is batting .284/.368/.556, with a .924 OPS. He has seven doubles, five home runs, 10 walks, and 20 RBIs.
Currently, Peroza just 22 years old, is tied for sixth in the Eastern League in home runs and extra-base hits. He also became the first Binghamton hitter to hit three home runs in a game since 2018.
