New York Mets center fielder Juan Lagares is slated to begin his rehabilitation assignment with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies tomorrow.  Lagares has been on the disabled list since June 16th.

Lagares had made a diving play in a June 15th game, and he had to be removed with a thumb injury.  On June 19th, Lagares underwent successful surgery to repair the IP joint in his left thumb.

This marks the second straight season Lagares has made a rehab appearance in Binghamton while recovering from a left thumb injury.  With the recent name change, this will be Lagares’ first appearance as a Rumble Pony.

On the season, Lagares has played in 47 games hitting  .269/.317/.409 with two homers and eight RBI.  In the field, Lagares has seen a return to his Gold Glove form posting a 7 DRS and 4.9 UZR in just 216.1 innings.
