According to Mike Puma the Mets have made Kevin Morgan the new Director of Player Development. That role was left vacant when Dick Scott was hired by the Mets as their new Bench Coach after Bob Geren left to take that same job with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Scott had been the Mets Director of Player Development since 2013.
For the last ten years, Morgan has been the Mets Minor League Instruction and Infield Coordinator. From 2001-2005 he was the Mets Director of Minor League Operations from 2001-2005. He joined the Mets front office as the Assistant to the Director of Minor League Operations in 1998.
Kevin made his Major League Debut with the Mets in 1997, he went 0 for 1 and played two innings in his career. The former infielder played in the Mets minor league system from 1994-1997.
Today the Cleveland Browns announced they had hired Mets Vice President of Player Development and Amateur Scouting Paul DePodesta as their new Chief Strategy Officer. You can read more about that here.
Makes sense. But they still need someone to replace DePo and essentially Scott, or I guess technically Morgan (now).
I think Tommy Tanous becomes on the guys that helps try and replace DePo. I have heard they might try to do it by committee though and not necessarily just one guy.
