New Mets prospect Franklyn Kilome made his organizational debut pitching for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies against the Pirates Double-A affiliate the Altoona Curve.

According to MLB Pipeline, Altoona’s lineup had some of the Top 30 prospects in the Pirates farm system. This includes Ke’Bryan Hayes (2), Cole Tucker (6), Bryan Reynolds (10), and Will Craig (18).

For the first five innings, Kilome kept this lineup at bay with Altoona scoring just one run on three hits. Notably, Kilome struck out four and had three 1-2-3 innings.

Altoona would get to Kilome with a three run sixth, which included an unearned run on a Kilome error.

After that long and tough inning, which included two stolen bases and an error, and with Kilome over 80 pitches, he took the mound in the seventh.

In many ways, this was his most impressive inning. Kilome responded to that rough sixth with a scoreless seventh.

He departed after seven with just one run in support. He set up that run with a leadoff single in the third. Overall, he was 1-for-2 with a run.

In taking the loss, his final line was 7.0 innings, six hits, four runs, three earned, a walk, and five strikeouts on 95 pitches.

Of those 95 pitches, 65 were for strikes. Kilome came out and pounded the strike zone. That’s a very promising sign for a pitcher with a big arm who came to the Mets with control issues.
