Lagares Hit Streak At Six Games, Oberste Wins Homerun Derby

Last night Juan Lagares continued his hot stretch going 2 for 3 with a run scored and RBI while extending his hitting streak to six games. During his hit streak for the Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican League he is 10 for 24 (.416) with five runs scored and four runs knocked in.

Overall he is now hitting .277/.333/.298 with two stolen bases, six runs scored, five RBI, and a double in 47 at bats over 13 games.

Venezuelan League

Tigres de Aragua

Wuilmer Becerra – 1 for 4, two run scored (8 for 21, .381 with RBI, three runs scored in seven games).

Puerto Rican League

Criollos de Caguas

Johnny Monell – 1 for 2, homerun, two walks, three RBI (.310/.417/.494 with three homeruns, 12 RBI in 87 at bats).

Indios de Mayaguez

T.J. Rivera – 0 for 4 (.327/.393/.418 with six runs, homerun, six RBI, six walks in 55 at bats).

Mets first base prospect Matt Oberste competed in the Colombian Winter League Homerun Derby last night and was the winner. Matt actually beat Mets outfield prospect Pedro Perez in the first round of the derby and hit eight homeruns in three minutes to beat Pirates prospect Harold Ramirez in the finale.

Dilson Herrera was originally scheduled to take part in the derby but did not participate with no reason for his absence given.
