Jenrry Mejia had his best start of the Winter League season pitching 5 scoreless innings for the Tigres del Licey in the Dominican. He allowed two hits, walk, and hit one batter while striking out six in what will be his last regular season start. Overall for the Tigres, he is 1-3 with a 3.92 ERA in eight appearances (seven starts) spanning 39 innings. He gave up 40 hits, 12 walks, and struck out just 26 in that time.
Although Juan Lagares had his eight-game hitting streak snapped with an 0 for 4 night he had what could be his most important game of the winter picking up two outfield assists. Lagares started a 8-6-4-5 putout to cut down Leury Garcia trying to stretch a double into a triple.
Earlier in the game he made a perfect throw (from eyewitness report) from center field to throw out former Blue Jay Moises Sierra who was trying to score from second base on a two-out single. He now has three outfield assists in 16 games for the Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican League. He is hitting .276 with five walks, five RBI, two stolen bases, and seven runs scored in 58 at bats.

- Dario Alvarez (Dominican League) – 1.1 innings, hit, three unearned runs allowed, 3.97 ERA in 11.1 innings pitched.
Former Met Jeremy Hefner made the start against Lagares and the Aguilas last night going 6 innings allowing two runs on four hits and two walks. He had five strikeouts including fanning the side in his final inning of work. Lagares struck out and flew out to right field against his former teammate.
Hefner has now pitched in five games (two starts) for the Gigantes del Cibao and has a 2.16 ERA. He has allowed 15 hits and four walks while striking out 11 in his 15.2 innings of work coming back from his second Tommy John Surgery.
