The Mets have announced that the Las Vegas 51s will continue to be their AAA affiliate through the 2018 season.
Heading into this offseason, there were a number of different affiliation agreements that were expiring that were much closer to the Mets. It is unknown if the Mets ever entered into any negotiations with any of the other possible destinations, nor is it known whether the Mets ever had any intentions to end their current relationship with the 51s.
During this time, it is expected the 51s will make efforts to work to create a “private-public partnership” to help the team build a more suitable ballpark than Cashman Field.
