Mets ownership

With the last game of the World Series played last night, today marks the first official day of the so called off-season and the start of what will be wild and crazy negotiations between owners, agents and players.  This is when us fans start to figure out which players management should go after and which prospects are untouchable.

In the previous years it really didn’t bother me as to which prospect was sent packing, because all I cared about was bringing in great talent to help us finally win.  But now that I have immersed myself into the Mets minor league world and have met some great young and talented men, I am really watching the wire to see if any of these guys will be traded away.

That is the life of a professional ball player, either on the 40 man roster or within the system, you just never know what the team will do and if they will be around for another year.  The main goal of a player is to be prepared to play each year no matter where he may call home.

So as we embark on another off-season soon to be filled with many rumors, trades and exciting free agent signings, I sit here waiting for news to hit the wire and see who is involved; and if it happens to be one of the Mets prospects, I will wish him well and hope that his journey continues and he makes a huge impact on his new team.

So in reality, there isn’t an off-season, it just a new season without any games to be played but many transactions to be made.
