After being placed on the seven day disabled list on July 2nd, Las Vegas 51s reliever Logan Taylor is expected to be activated from the disabled list today.  At this time, there has been no corresponding roster move announced.

Taylor landed on the disabled list with a concussion stemming from his being attacked by a homeless man with a tire iron in Salt Lake City.  The attack stemmed from Taylor refusing to hand over his wallet.  As a result of Taylor’s being hit in the back of the head with the tire iron, he needed approximately seven staples to close the wound in the back of his head.  Taylor also suffered a concussion stemming from the incident.

Reportedly, Kevin McGowan and Dominic Smith witnessed the attack, and they purused the homeless man.  Before McGowan or Smith could get there, the homeless man was apprehended by the police.  The assailant was placed in prison and bail was set at $2,500.  There have been no further updates on his criminal case.

After the attack, Taylor has been well enough to visit the ballpark to see his teammates, but he has not been well enough to take the mound.

The 25 year old Taylor has made 20 appearances in Triple-A pitching 38.2 innings.  Over that stretch, the 2012 11th round draft pick is 1-1 with a 3.96 ERA, 1.448 WHIP, and a 6.7 K/9.

The 51s are not scheduled to make a road trip to Salt Lake City again this season.
