Luis Cessa was sent to Binghamton on Wednesday and made his debut with the B-Mets, but suffered the loss as he tossed just 3.2 innings, while allowing five runs (all earned) on seven hits, two walks, and struck out three.

Cessa, 22, who was signed by the Mets in 2008, started the 2014 season with St. Lucie (A+), after helping the Savannah Sand Gnats (A) win the SAL Championship in 2013. This season in seven starts, he is 3-3, with a 3.40 ERA, with 18 strike outs in 42.1 innings.

The young righty struggled in his first four starts with the Mets going 0-3 (1 ND), giving up 26 hits, 13 runs, eight walks, in 23.1 innings. On May 3rd, he finally turned it around, winning the game and tossing five innings, giving up a run on two hits, walking one and striking out six.

In his last two starts prior to the B-Mets start, the Mexican native was combined (2-0), giving up two runs, on eight hits, walking one and striking out five in 14 innings.

According to sources, the B-Mets needed a pitcher to step in since they had a double header on Wednesday, but either way, it gave Cessa an opportunity to experience a Double AA game and now be able to work on what is needed to make it a permanent stay.
