Well, Luis Cessa was placed on the 7-Day DL for Savannah with a “right shin contusion.” However, Cessa had just touched 117.0 innings pitched on the year, so we might not see that much more of him this year. This organization tends to allow around 30.0 innings or so above the last year’s amount — and Cessa totaled 72.1 innings pitched for Brooklyn last year.
For what it’s worth, Cessa has looked decent in Savannah this year, with a 3.08 ERA and 112 strikeouts in the aforementioned 117 innings. Opposing hitters posted a .272 average against him, resulting in 125 hits, which is a little high. His overall numbers are skewered by a tough start to the season, which was countered by a strong finish. In his last 10 games, he has thrown seven quality starts. The highlight of the bunch was his August 5th start — where he fired eight shutout innings with a dozen strikeouts.
It’s unlikely they bring him back to pitch in Savannah, so i’ll look forward to seeing to him see next year.
Stefan Sabol was activated off the DL in a corresponding move.
