Ronny Mauricio is off to a torrid start down in the Dominican Republic. Through his first five games with Licey, he’s batting .391 with an OPS of 1.027. He added another impressive game to his resume in this one notching a three-hit performance in a 12-inning 6-5 loss.

Meanwhile, in the Arizona Fall League, five Met prospects saw action. Christian Scott would get the start for Peoria and after coasting through his first three innings, gave up a five spot in the fourth inning. Josh Walker would also pitch in this one, giving up a run in his inning of work.

On the other side of the diamond, Kevin Kendall would notch a hit along with two runs scored, Stanley Consuegra had an RBI, and Luke Ritter would walk three times in four plate appearances.

Arizona Fall League: Peoria Javelinas (7-8) 5 vs. Surprise Saguaros (9-5) 7   BOX SCORE

  • 2B Kevin Kendall: 1-for-3, 2 R, 2 BB
  • DH Stanley Consuegra: 0-for-3, RBI
  • 1B Luke Ritter: 0-for-1, R, 3 BB

Peoria jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after just two innings in Surprise. Kevin Kendall started the first inning with a single and would later score. Stanley Consuegra would drive in the second run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. In the second inning, Ritter and Kendall both would score on a Spencer Packard bases-clearing double. That would be the end for the Javelina offense as Surprise held them scoreless the rest of the way en route to a 7-5 victory.

  • RHP Christian Scott: (L, 0-2) 4 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 5 ER, BB, 5 SO, 12.54 ERA’
  • LHP Josh Walker: IP, H, R, ER, SO, 4.50 ERA

After getting roughed up in his previous two starts, Christian Scott was hoping for better results in his third AFL start. It seemed like Scott was well on his way to a bounce-back performance. He retired the side in the first inning on ten pitches and made it through three nearly-perfect innings, with a hit being his only blemish. Things would get out of hand for Scott in the fourth. After loading the bases with nobody out, Scott would surrender a grand slam to Blake Sabol, which wiped away Peoria’s lead. Scott was able to finish the fourth inning, but after loading the bases again in the fifth, Scott’s night came to a close.

Josh Walker would make his fourth AFL relief appearance in the eighth inning. He would give up a solo home run but was able to record three outs including a strikeout.

Dominican Winter League: Gigantes del Cibao (2-3) 6 Tigres del Licey (4-1) 5 F/12   BOX SCORE

The Mets’ number six prospect per MLB Pipeline continues to stay hot in the Dominican. Ronny Mauricio would turn in the three-hit night, including a hit that helped ignite a game-tying, two-out rally in the ninth. With Licey down to their last out, Mauricio legged out an infield single and would be driven home on a Ramon Hernandez RBI triple to tie the game at five. Licey would eventually lose 6-5 in 12 innings on a long night in Santo Domingo as the game ended just three minutes shy of five hours.
