Recently, Ronny Mauricio was diagnosed with a bone bruise stemming from a tag play on June 4. With the injury, Mauricio was day-to-day.

Based on recent games, you were left to wonder when Mauricio would get start hitting again. Since that June 4 game, Mauricio was 2-for-19 with no extra base bits.

That cold streak is now behind him as Mauricio was locked in at the plate against the Buffalo Bisons. Mauricio was 3-for-5 with two homers, a stolen base, and two RBI.

All three of Mauricio’s hits traveled in excess of 100 MPH. The two homers traveled over 430 feet.

With the homers and stolen base, it appears Mauricio’s ankle is improved. That goes double with Mauricio stealing a base.

In addition to excelling at the plate, Mauricio played left field. It was his first game out there as a professional.

Before the bone bruise, the plan was to get Mauricio exposed to the outfield to increase his versatility.

At the moment, Francisco Lindor is entrenched at SS. This leaves Mauricio looking for a new position. Before the injury, that was second, and for now, it is tilt to work in the outfield.

In the game, Mauricio struggled fielding one ball, and he would be charged with his 14th error on the season. To reiterate, this was his first professional game in left.

Of course, so long as Mauricio hits like he has all season, the Mets will find a place for him to play.
