Syracuse Mets starter Chris Mazza was named the International League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 16, 2019. This was the second time this season Mazza has earned this award (5/26/2019), and it is the third time in his minor league career, he has been named a Pitcher of the Week.

Mazza earned this award after shutting down a Gwinnett Stripers offense who was second in the International League in homers and third in hits and runs. Over eight shutout innings, Mazza struck out eight and allowed just two hits with those hits being just a soft liner and an infield single. Overall, only three batters reached base safely with only one of them getting into scoring position.

Overall, Mazza has pitched well since his most recent promotion to Triple-A. In three of his five starts, he has allowed one run or fewer, and he has quality starts in four of those five starts. During this impressive stretch, he has a 2.53 ERA and a 3.75 K/BB.
