Mets 2016 Draft Pick RHP Gary Cornish Suspended 50 Games

New York Mets minor league right-handed pitcher Gary Cornish has been suspended 50 games a positive test for an amphetamine according to Adam Rubin of ESPN.

Cornish, 22, was taken by the Mets in the 19th round of the 2016 draft out of the University of San Diego.

He made his pro debut with the Brooklyn Cyclones in the New York-Penn League. He pitched 25 innings for the Cyclones with a 2.16 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and struck out a whopping 44 batters compared to only three walks. He also went a perfect three for three in save chances.

Cornish led all of minor league baseball with his 15.84 K/9 for pitchers with at least 20 innings.
