The New York Mets signed four more undrafted free agents on Monday with the signings of right-handed pitcher Drake Nightengale, outfielder Joe Suozzi, right-handed pitcher Dylan Hall, and right-handed pitcher Austin Faith.

Nightengale is a senior from the University of South Alabama. Originally from Hattiesburg, Miss., he is 6’0” and weighs 185 lbs.

According to usajaguars.com, Nightengale led the Sun Belt Conference in opposing batting average (.196) and ranked fourth in ERA (3.52) and strikeouts (91) in 2019 over the course of 71.2 innings pitched. He was also named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week three times his junior year (Feb. 26, April 23 and May 20).

Nightengale got off to a strong start in his shortened 2020 senior season as the Jaguars’ No. 1 starting pitcher. In the four starts, he struck out 39 batters and allowed eight runs 23 1/3 innings. He finished the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season with a 3.09 ERA.

He was named to the 2020 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference, 2020 Collegiate Baseball Second-Team Preseason All-America and was the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Nightengale was also one of seven seniors on the USA Baseball team this past spring. As a result of his performances over the course of 2019 and 2020, Nightengale was also named to D1Baseball.com’s Top 100 pitchers in collegiate baseball, according to sunbeltsports.com.

Nightengale, who lists his favorite MLB player as the Mets’ own Jacob DeGrom, uses a four-pitch combo with a fastball in the low 90’s and a slider that is used as his swing-and-miss pitch.

Suozzi, a 6’2”, 215 lb senior from Boston College and New York Local from Glen Cove, New York, was also signed by the Mets on Monday night as an undrafted free agent. Suozzi grew up just 20 miles from Citi Field, so being signed by the Mets will be a homecoming for the talented outfielder.

According to bceagles.com, Suozzi played slow-pitch softball on Long Island and made the BC team through a walk-on tryout in the fall of 2017. He quickly made his way to the starting lineup in 2018 and became a leader and top player for the Eagles’ his junior season.

In his 2019 junior season at BC, Suozzi hit .282/.363/.423 with three home runs, 18 RBIs, 30 runs, eight doubles, and two triples. He was also named to the ACC All-Tournament Team in 2019.

In the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season, Suozzi started 15 games with 14 runs scored, 16 RBIs, four doubles, three triples and home run. He had an extremely impressive .414/.471/.638 slash line before the 2020 season was abruptly ended.

Heading into the 2020 MLB Draft, Suozzi was ranked as the No. 65 collegiate outfield prospect by D1Baseball.com. Suozzi graduated in May with a degree in economics from the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences.

Joe Suozzi is the son of Congressman, Thomas Suozzi from New York’s third district. Representative Suozzi is also a Boston College Alumni.

As a New York native, Joe Suozzi will not only get to live his dream, but he will get to do so with his hometown team. He joins the talented group of outfielders that the Mets have signed in this past week since the MLB Draft.

Dylan Hall is a 6’5” and 225 pounds from Division II Central Oklahoma. Originally from Stafford, Virginia, Hall pitched at Virginia Tech before transferring to Central Oklahoma his junior year.

According to hokiesports.com, in his 2018 sophomore season with Virginia Tech, Hall pitched 46 innings for the Hokies and struck out 35.

In his 2019 junior season, Hall made 16 starts for the Central Oklahoma Bronchos, with tied for the most in one season in school history. Hall set the school record for strikeouts in a single season, with 123 strikeouts, and also threw 106.1 innings in 2019, the third-most in school history. He allowed just 38 earned runs and 26 walks in 2019.

Hall finished the 2019 season with a 3.22 ERA, with five double-digit strikeouts games, including an impressive 14 strikeouts in a Bronchos win over FortHays State on April 18. Not only did he throw 14 strikeouts, but that same game he threw a one-hitter, which marked just the second nine-inning one-hitter in Central Oklahoma school history. He rounded out the milestone season earning First Team All-MIAA and First Team All-Region from both the Conference Commissioners Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association.

In the shortened 2020 season, Hall pitched 30 innings, allowing just 10 earned runs, eight walks, striking out an impressive 45 batters.

According to insidenova.com, Hall features a four-pitch arsenal that includes an impressive 95 MPH fastball. During a May 19 interview with insidenova.com, Hall described feeling like he’s on the top of his career. He was quoted saying, “I’d like to get with an organization to start my career. I feel like now is the time for me.”

The Mets also signed right-handed pitcher Austin Faith from Lamar University on Monday night.
