The Mets announced their non-roster invitees to spring training on Saturday.

The first name that might jump out at people is Tim Tebow, whether for good or for bad. But besides the Tebow experiment continuing on, the Mets are including a handful of their top prospects.

This includes Ronny Mauricio, Francisco Alvarez, Matthew Allan, Brett Baty and their most recent first-round pick, Pete Crow-Armstrong. In total, they invited 68 players to camp, a considerably large number.

Crow-Armstrong is possibly the biggest surprise considering how young he is and how far away from the majors he is. He’s just 18 and is yet to make his professional debut.

Alvarez is one of the Mets’ most exciting prospects, but he is still just 19 and quite a ways away from the major leagues. He’s still yet to play above Rookie ball.

Mauricio has played in seven spring training games for the Mets over the last two years, but this is his first official assignment to big league camp.

Also included in the non-roster invitees was the returning Jerry Blevins and the newly signed Trevor Hildenberger and Jerad Eickhoff, among others. The Mets will have a crowded clubhouse this spring, but that should just lead to more competition and ultimately a stronger team.
