Mets Appoint Luis Rivera B-Mets Hitting Coach

The Binghamton Mets announced that former B-Met player, Luis Rivera will become the teams new hitting coach for the 2014 season. Rivera is replacing longtime B-Met coach Luis Natera, who was added on Monday to the Major League staff as the new assistant hitting coach.

Rivera spent the last two seasons as the Mets short-season hitting coordinator and previously was the hitting coach for the Kingsport Mets (R) in 2011.

After making his pro debut in the Cubs system in 2005, the Carolina, Puerto Rico native joined the Mets as a Minor League free agent in 2006 with the Brooklyn Cyclones, and was a New York-Penn League All-Star. In 2007 he joined the B-Mets and in 18 games he batted .316. In 2009, he played for the Triple-A Buffalo Bison and appeared in 46 games.
