The Mets are signing Vladi Miguel Guerrero—the brother of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and son of Vladimir Guerrero—in international free agency, according to MMO‘s Mike Mayer. He will reportedly sign with the team when international free agency opens on January 15.

He is 16 years old and plays in the Dominican Republic, like the rest of his family did growing up.

Guerrero’s brother Pablo Guerrero signed with the Rangers and played in the Dominican Summer League in 2023.

Two years ago, he participated in a power showcase at loanDepot Park in Miami, routinely hitting balls 380+ feet to all parts of the field.

Francys Romero of MLB.com reports Guerrero is expected to receive a $100,000 signing bonus.

This marks the second time the Mets have signed a member of the Guerrero family in international free agency. Back in 2015, the Mets gave SS Gregory Guerrero a $1.5 million signing bonus.

The nephew of the Hall of Fame outfielder was considered a top prospect in the Mets organization until he dealt with a number of injuries. He elected free agency in 2022 and has not signed to play with another Major League organization.

We’ll update as more information comes out about the signing!
