According to Tim Healey of Newsday, the Mets have decided on the managers for all four of their full season teams for the upcoming season, and all four of them were in the Mets organization this past season.

Here’s how it looks for the 2022 season:

  • Triple-A Syracuse Mets – Kevin Boles
  • Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies – Reid Brignac
  • High-A Brooklyn Cyclones – Luis Rivera
  • Low-A St. Lucie Mets – Robbie Robinson

Boles returns to managing after serving as the Mets minor league field coordinator for the 2021 season. The long-time skipper in the Boston Red Sox organization joined the Mets in 2019 to be the manager of the Rumble Ponies.

Brignac, 35, was hired by the Mets almost immediately after retiring from his playing days in the big leagues. He was supposed to make his managerial debut with the Columbia Fireflies during the 2020 season, but the campaign was a wash because of COVID-19. During the 2021 season, the former Phillies infielder managed the Low-A St. Lucie Mets.

Rivera is a long-time Mets employee having started with the organization as a player in the 2000s then joining the coaching ranks in 2010. Rivera has been a hitting coach, hitting coordinator, bench coach, and this will be his second managerial gig following his time as the skipper for the Kingsport Mets from 2015 through 2017.

Robinson, 34, returns for his second season in the Mets organization. He was a manager for the FCL Mets during his first year with the organization in 2021. Before that, he was a minor league manager in the Twins organization starting in 2018 and he also spent time as a scout for the Baltimore Orioles.

Last week I reported that former big league pitcher Jerome Williams will take over as the pitching coach of Double-A Binghamton. Williams spent the 2021 season as the pitching coach for St. Lucie. There is expected to be turnover in the Mets minor league coaching department and we will keep you updated on those changes.

It was reported last month that the Mets hired Jono Armold to be their minor league pitching coordinator, and that the organization hired a director of analytics to cover the minor leagues.
