Hamilton Bennett was granted his requested release today by the Mets. Bennett has pitched for Double-A Binghamton this year to the tune of a 3.38 ERA over 16 innings.
The 26-year old reliever has pitched between 50-60 innings per year between 2011-2013, and may have been discouraged by the amount of playing time he was being given.
Bennett’s only possible major league projection would be as a lefty specialist out of the bullpen.

Best of luck
A young man with a great attitude and loves the fans as much as he loves the game.
Interesting
Minor league affiliates want nothing to do with the Mets and most minor leaguers dont want any part of the Mets either. Lutz would rather go to Asia countless players in Bingo want to leave and now Hamilton requested to be cut.
