Top Mets prospect Andres Gimenez was hit by a pitch on the hand last week by Portland Sea Dogs pitcher Dominic LoBrutto. Due to where he was hit on the hand, the Mets flew him to New York for tests at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Fortunately, the tests were negative meaning Gimenez does not have a broken hand alleviating concerns he may had a fractured hamate bone.

Gimenez is still not able to play at the moment. Once the swelling reduces and Gimenez feels capable of returning to play, he will return to Binghamton and be activated.

Syracuse OF Matt Kemp has been placed on the seven day Injured List. Kemp had sustained a broken rib in April while still a member of the Cincinnati Reds. Apparently, he is still feeling ill effects of that injury. Before being placed on the Injured List, Kemp played eight games for Syracuse hitting .235/.278/.324 with one homer and three RBI.
