The Mets signed infielder Christian Arroyo and right-hander Robinson Martinez Monday to minor-league deals. Arroyo’s pact comes with a spring-training invite.
Arroyo, 30, last played in the majors in 2023 with the Red Sox when he posted a .638 OPS over 206 plate appearances. In 2025, he hit .314/.384/.485 with five home runs in 190 plate appearances for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, a Phillies affiliate.
Arroyo played mostly second base, shortstop and third base over seven major-league seasons with four teams. He debuted with the Giants in 2017. He is a career .252/.299/.394 hitter.
Martinez, 27, has struck out 19 in 15 2/3 innings in the Dominican Winter League this offseason after throwing 22 2/3 innings in the Orioles organization in 2025. The Dominican Republic native pitched to a 4.86 ERA in 16 2/3 innings for Double-A Chesapeake. He struck out 18, but lacked control, walking 19. His WHIP was an ugly 2.04.
In eight minor-league seasons in the Orioles and Phillies systems, Martinez has pitched to a 4.91 ERA over 233 innings. MMO’s Mike Mayer posted a clip of a Martinez strikeout to X.
