Of course this year we will hear more about the instructional league than normal because of the presence of Tim Tebow. This is good news however, as we hope to keep tabs on guys like Planck and Kay as well as guys coming back from injury like Blake Taylor, Marcos Molina and Luis Carpio. Molina missed the entire year while Taylor and Carpio missed a majority of the season.
It will also be interesting to see how guys like Gimenez, Guerrero, Beracierta, Moreno, Campusano, and Acosta do in their first taste of baseball stateside.
The purpose of the instructional league is to refine the skills of young players, rehab players with injuries, and get some players ready for the Arizona Fall League.
So the roster is basically every prospect in A-Ball and below
Noticed that David Thompson is not all the list.
Generally not most of the guys in A-ball unless they are working on something. Only St. Lucie guy is Flexen, who could be working on mechanical stuff. Fireflies guys: Ramos has had some serious maturiy issues, Mazeika missed a chuck of the season, Garcia missed most of the season with a suspension.
Only few full season guys this year.
I’m actually interested in seeing Jose Guerrero finally. I heard he is a failed starter that is now being looked at as a bullpen guy. Can anyone shed any light on this and let me know if that is true?
From a purely baseball perspective, I think Brandon Brosher highlights the instructional league roster more than Tebow. Of course, I don’t think Brosher has specific media availability times.
Would have expected a few more OF present. Namely Bautista, Ramirez, and Valdez…

Guerrero has been injured and hasn’t thrown a pitch yet for in the minors so I’m assuming you’re thinking of someone else.
Bautista and Ramirez really surprise me but they have been so bad maybe the Mets are giving up on them a little.
Go home, Tebow, you can exploit all the religious stuff you want but you can hit a 100 mph fastball or a 80 mph change up, just go home, bud !
Unless bat speed is less than equal to slider bat speed I can’t see giving up on them yet
Before we send him packing why not find out if he can hit a fastball?
In the meantime the organization and affiliate stand to make a nice profit. What is wrong with running a business like a business?
Shhh, that would make too much sense!
Otanez and Adon are two younger guys you might want to keep an eye on. Adon didn’t do very well, but they kept him at Leadoff in GCL for a long time, and he has some pop and speed in CF.
Otanez throws mid-90’s as a 19 year old.

My fault I meant to say he was a inconsistent (failed is kinda strong) starter before the Mets signed him and they inked him with the understanding he could be a bullpen arm. But again this is just what I heard. Thanks for the info that he has been hurt. Do you know what the injury was? Thanks for this site by the way. Your work is very well written, informative and addictive. Let’s Go Mets
