The Mets made a slew of signings on Monday, which was to be somewhat expected given that they only submitted 45 out of 60 potential players in their pool on Sunday.

Two of the additions were re-signings of players who the Mets released after the abbreviated spring training in Ryan Cordell and Erasmo Ramirez.

Cordell, an outfielder, has some MLB experience with the White Sox, where he has amassed a .205/.267/.335 line in 287 plate appearances. Ramirez is a 30-year-old right-handed pitcher with an eight-year MLB career under his belt, and while he is mostly a reliever, he has some experience starting as well.

The most notable signing was veteran outfielder Melky Cabrera. The 35-year-old is likely past his prime, but could still be of some value off the bench for the Mets. He batted .280/.313/.399 last year in 133 games for the Pirates.

They signed another veteran in Hunter Strickland, the former Giants and Nationals reliever who is most recently known for getting into a fight with NL East rival Bryce Harper.

They also signed yet another veteran in Gordon Beckham, a 33-year-old utility infielder who posted -1.0 bWAR in 83 games for the Tigers last year.

While these are surely all just depth signings, all five of these guys are expected to be added the Mets’ player pool for this season. That would bring the pool total to 49, so it would not be impossible to see them make a few more signings still.
