The Sand Gnats find themselves in a 1-0 series hole after last night’s series opening game against Hagerstown. Lugo gets the ball in Game 2 tonight for Savannah. He hasn’t pitched since his last regular season start, which came on September 1st against Greenville. He allowed two runs on two hits, three walks, and eight strikeouts in six innings pitched, losing his second straight decision after winning his first two. Since his promotion from Brooklyn, he’s been a welcome lift to the Sand Gnat starting rotation. In 34.1 innings of work with the Cyclones this season, he allowed 34 hits, 13 walks, struck out 27 hitters, and held opponents to a .260 batting average. Since joining Savannah, he’s thrown 32 innings, allowing 22 hits, six walks, striking out 39 hitters, and holding opposing batters to just a .160 average.
