Mets Minor Leaguers Opening Season On Injured List

The New York Mets have previously announced the Opening Day rosters for each of their full season affiliates. With the season beginning today, the Mets have placed a number of minor leaguers either on the Injured List.

Syracuse Mets

C Dan Rizzie

Binghamton Rumble Ponies

RHP Austin McGeorge, RHP Franklyn Kilome, RHP Mickey Jannis, C Phil Capra, C Dustin Houle, OF Alfredo Escalera

Kilome is expected to miss the entire season due to Tommy John surgery. If he remains on the minor league disable list through April 16, he is will have used his second option leaving him one option remaining as he tries to return from the surgery.

St. Lucie Mets

RHP Trey Cobb, RHP Jordan Humphreys, RHP Chase Ingram, RHP Max Kuhns, RHP Thomas McIlraith, RHP Joseph Shaw, LF Jacob Zanon

Whereas Cobb will miss the entire season due to Tommy John, Humphreys is expected to return from his own surgery sometime in June.

Columbia Fireflies

RHP Colin Holderman, LHP Joel Huertas, C Carlos Sanchez

Holderman and Huertas underwent Tommy John surgery, and they may appear in a game this season.

In addition to the aforementioned players, there are additional injured players who are not officially listed on the Injured List. This list includes P.J. Conlon, Gavin Cecchini, RHP Walker Lockett, LHP David Roseboom, and INF Shervyen Newton.

MMN‘s Michael Mayer reported Cecchini is dealing with a quad issue, and Roseboom suffered a groom injury. Both players participated in an instrasquad game in Extended Spring Training.

With respect to Newton, Mayer reports he is dealing with a minor shoulder issue which should only keep him out for a short time.

In addition to the players put on the injured list or participating in Extended Spring Training, the Mets have placed Devin Mesoraco on the suspended list.

Finally, both Travis d’Arnaud and Todd Frazier began their rehab assignments with St. Lucie.
