After the blockbuster Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander trades, the New York Mets were not done dealing. In total, the Mets would make four trades on the day.

Tommy Pham was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks for SS prospect Jeremy Rodriguez. Rodríguez, 17, was signed by the Diamondbacks during the 2023 international free agent signing period and was given a $1.25 signing bonus.

Rodríguez was ranked by MLB Pipeline as the 47th best available international free agent. In that assessment, MLB Pipeline said:

Rodriguez hits from the left side and has shown the ability to drive the ball to all fields with authority. More power is expected as his body matures and he adds strength. He has also been praised for his makeup and baseball IQ. Rodriguez is a natural. His father played in the Minor Leagues for the Tigers organization.

Rodriguez has played 36 games in the Dominican Summer League. He’s hitting .256/.371/.393 with six doubles, two triples, two homers, and 18 RBI.

Right-handed reliever Dominic Leone to the Los Angeles Angels for SS prospect Jeremiah Jackson. Jackson, 23, was the Angels 2018 second round pick out of St. Luke’s Episcopal High School in Mobile, AL.

Baseball America rated Jackson as the Angels’ 18th best prospect saying, “Jackson is an above-average runner with above-average arm strength who can adequately play center field, shortstop and third base. He has an outside chance to be a utilityman who plays multiple positions and provides occasional power off the bench.”

Jackson is repeating Double-A. Over 82 games this season, he’s hitting .248/.321/.447 with 15 doubles, one triple, 15 homers, and 56 RBI. He’s stolen 21 bases in 28 attempts.

In the Mets last trade before the deadline, they acquired relievers Phil Bickford and Adam Kolarek from the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations.

Kolarek, 34, was initially drafted by the Mets in the 11th round of the 2010 draft out of the University of Maryland. After six years in the Mets farm system, he was released.
