There were only two games in the Mets farm system on Wednesday as the Triple-A and Double-A affiliates began to wind down their season. While one team had a tough time finding a hit, the other got contributions from everyone in the lineup. Find out more about those games with our nightly roundup below.

Triple-A

Worcester Red Sox (74-66) 7, Syracuse Mets (72-67) 0

BOX SCORE

It was a rough night for the Syracuse offense. Against Worcester on Wednesday, they managed only a pair of singles and combined to strike out 14 times (strikeouts from 8 of the 9 players in the starting lineup).

  • RHP Mike Vasil (8-10, 5.93 ERA): 4 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 K (44 of 66 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Eric Orze (3.05): 1 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 K (16 of 24 pitches for strikes)
  • LHP Joey Lucchesi (4.86): 2 IP, 4 R (2 ER), 2 H, 3 BB, K (31 of 58 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Trey McLoughlin (3.60): 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 K (12 of 19 pitches for strikes)

The bulk of the damage against Vasil came from one player. Vaughn Grissom had a solo home run in the bottom of the second and a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. Orze came in after Vasil and extended his scoreless streak to seven appearances.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (67-65) 8, Portland Sea Dogs (76-58) 4

BOX SCORE

Binghamton’s offense was the opposite of Syracuse’s. Every player in the starting lineup recorded at least one hit, and they only struck out six times as a team. Clifford started the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first. One inning later, Parada hit a two-run home run, his first home run since July 12. His three RBIs (single in the fourth) tied a season-high for him.

  • RHP Jonah Tong (2.89): 3 1/3 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 4 BB, 5 K (50 of 85 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Justin Lawson (1-0, 0.00): 1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 3 K (18 of 30 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP TJ Shook (4.34): 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 K (12 of 14 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Joshua Cornielly (1.20): 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 K (20 of 28 pitches for strikes)

Tong’s second Double-A outing was not as eventful as his first. After having two strikeouts in the first inning, he walked four batters over the next two-plus innings. However, the bullpen stepped up behind him, combining for eight strikeouts. Lawson was dominant in his Double-A debut. He has not allowed a run in seven straight appearances dating back to his time in Brooklyn.
