We return to naming our Mets Minors Players of the Week after missing a week because we chose our Players of the Month for April.

Offensive Player of the Week – Dilson Herrera (Las Vegas 51s)

A powerful week from the young second baseman in which he missed the cycle by a double in one game and a triple in another. In the game he missed it by a double, he came to bat with a chance but decided instead to hit his second long ball of the game instead For the week he hit .423/.444/.885 with three homers, seven runs and seven RBI. He also stole two bases and is 7 for 12 this season with two outs and runners in scoring position.

Honorable MentionWuilmer Becerra (STL) & Dominic Smith (BMETS)

No one in the Mets system is a hotter hitter than Becerra right now who went 11 for 20 (.556/.591/.650) with two doubles and four RBI this week. He also walked once and was hit by a pitch while striking out only two times.

The 22-year old lefty had his best start of the year Friday night going five shutout innings in which he allowed only a single and one walk. He struck out seven batters including five of the last six batters he faced. He was absolutely dominant not allowing a runner past first base and with six of his strikeouts coming of the swinging variety. He picked up his second win of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.12 in 26 innings.

Honorable MentionGabriel Ynoa (51s) & Ricky Knapp (STL)

Ynoa got two wins this week pitching 13.1 innings allowing four runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out seven. He lowered his season ERA to 1.91, the second lowest in the Pacific Coast League.

Knapp gave up a first inning run before settling in to pitch five straight scoreless inning in his lone start last week. He allowed one run on only three hits, walked four and struck out three. He received a no-decision but lowered his season ERA to 2.20 in 28.2 innings.

Relief Pitcher of the WeekLogan Taylor (Binghamton Mets)

The right-handed has done it all for Binghamton this season pitching in long relief, short relief and has even made a start. This past week he made two appearances that spanned five combined scoreless innings and picked up his third victory of the season. In those five innings he allowed three hits, two walks and struck out eight batters. He threw 75 pitches with an incredible 55 of them coming for strikes.

Honorable MentionJosh Edgin (51s) & Akeel Morris (BMETS)

Edgin has been lights out on his way back from surgery despite topping out at 90 MPH with his fastball. He pitched three innings this past week and faced the minimum with three strikeouts. The only baserunner he allowed was a walk that was erased on a double play. He has struck out ten and give up only two hits in 7.1 innings overall.

Defensive Player of the WeekMilton Ramos (Columbia Fireflies)

The slick fielding shortstop received honorable mention for defensive player of the month for April and has been fantastic all season for the Fireflies. It certainly is a treat when the Fireflies have away games that are on MiLB.tv to be able to see him flash the leather.

Honorable MentionMaikis De La Cruz (BMETS)

The Binghamton Mets outfielder played strictly right field this past week which is his best defensive position. He has also played nine games at center field and two in left field this season. He has a good arm, gets good jumps and has the speed to play all three outfield spots.
