Cory Vaughn

LAS VEGAS 4, EL PASO 3

Giancarlo Alvarado started for the 51s and earned the win despite having a very odd night on the mound. The right-hander went five innings and only allowed one hit, but walked six batters. He also struck out four. Cesar Puello, who’s been mired in a slump, went 3 for 5 out of the leadoff spot with a homer, a double and two RBI. Andrew Brown and Zach Lutz had two hits apiece. Erik Goeddel continued to struggle, allowing two runs in his inning of relief. The rest of the bullpen was very good, however, with Zack Thornton, Buddy Carlyle and Vic Black combining for four shutout innings. Black earned his fifth save, lowering his ERA to 1.62. These two teams will face-off again on Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 9:05 PM ET. Noah Syndergaard toes the rubber looking for his fifth win. (box score)

BINGHAMTON 3, ALTOONA 2

The B-Mets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a first innings homerun off the bat of Brian Burgamy. It was Burgamy’s sixth homer of the year, and it came in support of starter Darin Gorski, who pitched very well. The 6’4 southpaw tossed six innings for Binghamton, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out six without walking a batter. Reliever John Church would relieve Gorski and would allow a run, therefore blowing Gorski’s chance at a win. Struggling outfielder Cory Vaughn would deliver in the ninth, blasting a walk-off homerun to give the B-Mets the win. He also had a double in the game, finishing 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Cody Satterwhite would earn the win, going 1.2 innings and lowering his ERA to 0.82 on the season. Binghamton will head to New Hampshire to take on the Fisher Cats on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM ET. Matt Bowman takes the mound in search of his fourth win. (box score)

TAMPA 10 , ST. LUCIE 5

St. Lucie took the loss Thursday night in a sloppy game that was interrupted by a rain delay in the middle. Domingo Tapia was rocked for eight runs on ten hits in 4.2 innings for the Mets. He allowed 3 homeruns while walking three and striking out three in the losing effort. Offensively there were some bright spots. Leadoff hitter Dilson Herrera notched a pair of hits and scored a run. Brandon Nimmo also had two hits, finished 2 for 3 with a triple, a run scored, an RBI and two walks. T.J. Rivera added an RBI double and Cam Maron also roped a double. St. Lucie will head to Lakeland on Friday night for a 7:11 PM ET meeting with the Flying Tigers. Luis Cessa will take the ball for the Mets coming off his best start of the season. (box score)

SAVANNAH, GREENVILLE PPD

Thursday’s game between the Sand Gnats and the Drive was postponed due to wet field conditions. These two teams will play a double header Friday night with the first game slated for 5:35 PM ET. Miller Diaz will pitch game one looking to continue his excellent form, while Robert Gsellman takes the ball in the nightcap.

PLAYER OF THE NIGHT

Tonight’s player of the night is Cory Vaughn, who hit a walkoff homer for the Binghamton Mets in their victory over Altoona.
