LAS VEGAS 8, EL PASO 5

After losing eight of their last nine games, the Las Vegas 51’s bounced back using their bats to take one from the El Paso Chihuahuas. The 51’s came out swinging, scoring in the very first inning after an Allan Dykstra single brought in Josh Satin. The Chihuahuas fought back scoring runs of their own in the second and third to take the lead, but Las Vegas wouldn’t relent. They drove in three in the fourth and two more in the seventh to grab a sizable lead. Jeff Walters was brought in to pitch in the seventh, but gave up one run in that frame and one more in the eighth before Buddy Carlyle was called in and let in one more. The 51’s continued to hit, driving in two more runs in the ninth inning off of an Omar Quintanilla single and an Andrew Brown Triple. Dana Eveland got the start, throwing five innings, letting in only two while striking out eight. Despite the recent slump, the 51’s have been hitting great lately with a team batting average of .290, high enough to lead the PSL.

BREVARD COUNTY 2, ST. LUCIE 1

The St. Lucie Mets were blanked for eight straight innings, only managing to plunk in a run in the ninth. T.J. Rivera had the lone RBI on the day, despite going 0-4, after grounding into a force out in the last frame. Even after a tough day Rivera still maintains the Florida State League’s best batting average at .361. The St. Lucie Mets only managed four hits, with Gilbert Gomez going 2-2 after being called in for a defensive substitution for Brandon Nimmo in the third. Dilson Herrera had one hit, a single, which led to him scoring the team’s only run. Michael Fulmer pitched a solid outing, throwing five innings, giving up two runs while striking out five. With the loss, Fulmer moves to 2-4 on the season with a 4.70 ERA.

 BINGHAMTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE – POSTPONED

The Binghamton Mets game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats was postponed due to rain with two outs in the bottom of the second inning. The B-Mets came out hot driving in six runs in their short series of play. The match will resume on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the first game of a double header.

SAND GNATS, AUGUSTA – POSTPONED

The Sand Gnats game against the Augusta Greenjackets was suspended due to wet grounds at Grayson Stadium.

METS MINORS PLAYER of the NIGHT

Andrew Brown had a great day for the 51’s, going 2-4 with a double, triple, to RBI’s and a walk. With the red-hot performance he raises his average to .355 on the season, the third highest in the league.
