LAS VEGAS 10, EL PASO 2

The Las Vegas 51’s were on an “every other inning” scoring spree on Friday as they defeated the El Paso Chihuahuas 10-2.  The 51’s gave starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard so help scoring runs in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th innings enroute to his 5th win of the season.  Syndergaard went five innings allowing both El Paso runs while striking out five.  It is the fifth game in a row where he has struck out at least five and the seventh time in his nine starts this season.  Matt den Dekker led the game off hitting his 4th home run of the season.  Andrew Brown also homered in the game.  The win is the 51’s 30th of the season and their fifth in a row.  Offense hasn’t been a problem here as they have scored 36 runs during this win streak.  Saturday is the third of four against El Paso as Las Vegas looks to continue tearing up the PCL boasting the league’s best record.  Dana Eveland is scheduled to be on the mound.  (box score)

BINGHAMTON 8, NEW HAMPSHIRE 6

The Mets would jump out to an early 4-0 lead against New Hampshire only see it disappear after a six-run third by the Fisher Cats.  Binghamton would take the lead back with a 4-run inning of their own and hold on for an 8-6 win.  Matthew Bowman would start and strike out 12 in six innings.  The six runs allowed led to the no-decision and almost led to his second loss on the season if it wasn’t for the Binghamton bats and bullpen.  Kevin Plawecki went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and now has hit in nine of his last ten games.  Brian Burgamy also drove in three for Binghamton as they improve to 21-16 on the season 2.5 games behind the Portland Seas Dogs for first place in the Eastern Division.  Rainy Lara will get the start as these two teams meet again on Saturday.  (box score)

ST. LUCIE 6, LAKELAND 4

The St. Lucie Mets would take a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth and hold on for dear life, as they defeated the Lakeland Flying Tigers 6-4.  Luis Cessa has been very good his last three starts winning all of them while allowing one run each time.  Cessa would go six strong in this one striking out three and walking none.  Jairo Perez and Cam Maron would each have a solo shot in this one and four other Mets would drive in one run apiece.  Matt Koch looks to remain perfect on the season seeking out his fifth win on Saturday.  (box score)

SAVANNAH 11, GREENVILLE 3 – GAME 1

Miller Diaz improves to 4-0 as the Savannah SandGnats take the first game of a double header against Greenville 11-3.  Diaz turned in a fine effort for Savannah going five innings allowing no runs while striking out eight.  Paul Paez came in relief and had a difficult time finishing out the game, but lucky for him the SandGnats offense was on fire.  Stefan Sabol and Dominic Smith each drove in three runs as Savannah knocked around Greenville’s pitching in the abbreviated 7-inning contest.  The SandGnats also showed some patience at the plate as they were able to draw nine walks and also finished the game 5-for-13 with runners in scoring position.  Savannah improved to 28-11 with the win.  (box score)

GREENVILLE 4, SAVANNAH 1 – GAME 2

Savannah couldn’t complete the minor league organizational sweep, as they fall in the second game of the double header against Greenville 4-1.  John Gant got the start for the SandGnats going five innings allowing four runs on seven hits.  His seven strikeouts makes him the active leader on the team with 38.  Akeel Morris came in relief and extended his streak of not allowing a run to 22.2 innings.  He also added two more strikeouts giving him 36 which is the most on the team for a reliever.  L.J. Mazzilli drove in the only run of the game for Savannah on an RBI double in the first inning.  Savannah continues with their home stand on Saturday as Charleston comes in for a four game set.  Robert Gsellman will make his first start after being activated from the disabled list.  (box score)

METS MINORS PLAYER of the NIGHT

Seems like all the Mets minor league team’s know how to do is win.  Each team one a game with one (Las Vegas) just completely pulling away from the competition.  As has been the case more often than not, many players qualify for MMN Player of the Night.  Only being able to choose one, Matt den Dekker takes the honor going 3-for-5 with a home run, double, an RBI, and three runs scored.
